"Ecorces" was Sophie's first series, it was inspired by her very first trip to the Blue Mountains where she admired the unusual aspects of the various patterns, forms and colours of the bark.

Her "bark series" presents an abstract interpretation of nature. The paintings are heavily textured, with layers of gesso, acrylic and oil paint. The series was exhibited in a group show entitled "Abstraction" at Global Gallery, June 2006. The painting "Lichen sur ecorces vertes" was selected by Greenpeace art 4 action 2006, and raised $2500 for the "Changing Nature/06" fundraiser.

Sophie Dalgleish continues to further develop her bark series , with more abstract pieces recently produced on the theme "Black and white bark ".
